Solid units, tired doors. We wrapped the fronts, drawers and end panels in a matte film and left the carcasses where they were. No rip-out, no new kitchen.

One internal door, refinished in matte. We take the handle and hinges off rather than cut around them. It's slower, but you don't get that ridge of film lifting at the edges six months later.

A plain entrance door, given a textured film. We wrap the leading edge as well, so it still reads as solid when the door is open. That edge is usually where a cheap wrap gives itself away.

Fitted wardrobes, built into the alcove. Replacing these means new joinery scribed to the wall and ceiling, which costs a lot more than most people expect. We wrapped the doors and side panels in a warm woodgrain instead.

Sliding doors need a thinner film. Too much thickness and they start catching in the track. We used a lighter architectural vinyl here, then rehung and realigned every panel before we left.

Doors, frames, exposed sides, the lot. Wrapping just the fronts is cheaper, but then you have new doors sitting against an old carcass and the mismatch shows in daylight. Worth doing the whole run at once.

Good piece, worn finish. Vinyl takes well to flat and gently curved surfaces like this, and it stands up to daily knocks better than the coating that was on it.

Bathrooms are the hardest rooms we work in. Steam, heat, water sitting on surfaces. We used a film rated for humidity and sealed every edge and cut-out around the basin, because water creeping under the film is what ruins a bad bathroom wrap.

Dark to light, to make a small bathroom feel less closed in. Waterproof anti-mould vinyl on the door fronts, drawer faces and cabinet sides. Basin and taps stayed where they were.

The worktop was sound, just dated. Wrapping it in a marble-effect film meant nobody had to lift the run out, disconnect the sink and hob, or lose the kitchen for a week.

A tall larder unit, brought in line with the rest of the kitchen. Units like this are usually scribed to the wall and ceiling, so pulling one out is a far bigger job than it looks. Easier to wrap it where it stands.

A full colour change. This is the one that shows what wrapping does that paint can't: no brush marks, no texture, an even factory-style finish. And it comes off later without wrecking the units underneath.

Frosted film on a glazed partition. The meeting room gets its privacy, the floor keeps its daylight. Most fit-outs get that trade-off wrong by boarding the glass over completely.

Privacy film so the room could actually be used for private conversations. It goes straight onto the existing glass, so there's no partition work, and it comes off again if the floorplan changes.

Solar film across a commercial frontage. In this climate that's a running-cost question as much as a comfort one. Cut the heat coming through that much glazing and the cooling has less to fight.
